A New Dawn
With over, 35 million TV homes in Nigeria, television shows are an integral part of developing society and should be upheld by benchmarks that foster quality and commend creativity. The Tube Awards unveils a new dawn where television content creators, producers, directors, editors, and actors, are recognized for their immense contribution to the industry and in society at large. This is our way of setting the pace for continued excellence.
The Awards
The name, “The Tube Awards” is derived from “cathode-ray tube” — a technology which enjoyed dominance from the 1930s to 2000s and a mainstay of display technology in the late 20th century. The device was used to regulate, facilitate, and project electron beams to television screens to create the images. Consequently, the Tube awards will birth a new standard of “What is good for Nigerian TV.” It bridges a gap in the industry and will serve as a reference for authenticity within the nation and beyond. The awards will be held every year.
The Awards Panel
A panel of distinguished television professionals with remarkable track record and competence in different fields in the industry will adjudge The Tubes’ nominees and select the awardees annually. This jury will be comprised of members of The Academy for Television Arts in Nigeria (ATAN).
